In 1898 he married Ruth Ina Muriel, eldest daughter of the late Comdr. W. B. McHardy, R.N., and Chief Constable of Lanarkshire.  Sir John leaves a widow, two sons and two daughters.   His elder son, Major John William Spenser Maclure, born 4th February 1899 now succeeds as third baronet.   He married Miss Elspeth King Clark, elder daughter of the late Mr. Alexander King Clark of Wykeham Hatch, Dartnell Park, West Byfleet, and served with the Kings Royal Rifles in France and North Russia.
